The Lord’s Supper
Meditation: “In the Uneasy Dark” -Rev. Dr. Linda D. Even
We recall and participate in the events of the night of Jesus’ arrest and last supper with his disciples.
Chorale Prelude on O Lamm Gottes, Unschuldig (Lamb of God, Innocent) J.S. Bach
“An Upper Room Did Our Lord Prepare”
“Bread of the World”
“Go To Dark Gethsemane”
Chorale Prelude on ‘Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele’ (Adorn yourself, O dear soul) J.Brahms
Good Friday, March 30
12 noon Service in the Sanctuary, followed by Prayer Vigil until 3 pm
O Mensch Bewein, dein Sunde Gross (O Man, bemoan thy grievous sin) J.S. Bach
“Beneath the cross of Jesus”
“O Love, How Deep, How Broad, How High”
“Were You There”
“Stay With Me”
To mark Good Friday, perhaps the most solemn day during Lent, Dr. Even will lead a brief service at noon. The sanctuary will then remain open until 3:00 PM; you may come and go at any time.
Each of the window shelves will feature symbols that speak to the events of Holy Week as a “Journey to the Cross,” similar to the stations of the cross. A booklet containing symbol descriptions with accompanying poems, reflections and hymns will help us understand Christ’s self-giving love for us. Bibles and hymnals that can be used in conjunction with the booklets will also be available.
In a busy and noisy world, come and experience the blessing of quiet reflection and prayer during this pre-Easter vigil.
